There Is No Version Of This Where You Were Right To Wait
Picture the last moment. Whatever you imagine that to be. A hospital bed, a quiet room, a final breath. Now picture yourself there, still holding the exact same sentence you're holding right now. "Once things settle down." "Once I have more time." "Once the money comes in." Sit in that image for a second longer than feels comfortable, because I need you to actually see it before you keep reading.
There is no version of that moment where you were right to wait.
Go back through every person you've ever heard of who died before they were "ready." Nobody warned them the clock had a hard stop. Nobody sent a memo saying, "by the way, the perfect conditions you're waiting for were never going to arrive - you should have started without them." The condition simply never resolved. It got buried with them, mid-sentence, mid-plan, mid-"once."
You already know this intellectually. Everyone does. It's the one fact nobody actually disputes and everybody quietly ignores, because believing it fully would mean admitting that today - not the improved version of today you're waiting for - is the only version you will ever actually get to act inside of. There is no future date where the risk of waiting disappears. There is only the date you stopped being here to find out.
"Once" is not a plan. It's a postponed verdict. It quietly assumes two things you have no actual authority to guarantee - that the condition will eventually arrive, and that you will still be here when it does. Neither of those is yours to promise. You are not in control of your next breath, let alone your next paycheck, your next move, your next "right time." And yet you have built an entire identity around a future that requires both of those unearned guarantees to hold.
This is not meant to frighten you into paralysis. It's meant to strip away the only thing giving your delay permission to continue - the illusion that you have unlimited time to eventually get to it. You don't. Nobody does. The people who are gone right now did not get a warning shot. They simply ran out of "once."
Here is the part almost nobody says plainly. Every day spent waiting for the condition is not a neutral day. It is a day permanently withdrawn from the only account you actually have - the one measured in time, not circumstances. You cannot borrow against it. You cannot wait until it's more convenient to spend it. It spends itself whether you participate or not.
So when you say "once things calm down, I'll start praying every prayer on time" - you are not simply delaying an action. You are gambling an unknown number of remaining days against a condition that may never arrive, and that you have no authority to schedule. That is not patience. That is a bet placed with a stake you cannot see and a deadline you were never shown.
Run every excuse through this one test: imagine standing at the end, looking back, and explaining to yourself why you waited. "I was waiting for more money." Does that hold up as a reason you didn't start? "I was waiting for the right season." Does that survive being said out loud in that final room? None of them do. Not one condition you are currently waiting on will sound like wisdom from that vantage point. It will sound exactly like what it always was - fear, given a deadline extension it was never entitled to.
There is no version of this where the waiting was the right call. Not one. Which means the only decision that will actually hold up under that kind of scrutiny is the one available to you right now, today, with nothing having changed except your willingness to stop waiting for it to.
This isn't a call to recklessness. It's a call to stop outsourcing your obedience, your discipline, your life, to a condition that was never guaranteed to show up and never authorized to hold your future hostage in the meantime. Start the small version. Start the imperfect version. Start today, not because today is convenient, but because today is the only day you have been given actual, confirmed access to.
Nobody gets the green light. Everybody who ever built anything real simply stopped waiting for one.
